Intake Process
Something to know: there are no upfront charges.  I do not charge a bench fee, nor do I charge for estimates, and payment is due when the work is completed.

Here's how the intake process typically goes for customers:

  1. Please schedule an appointment, as I do not do walk-ins.
  2. After an appointment, you should expect to spend 5-15 minutes discussing your issues while I conduct a cursory inspection of your instrument.
  3. I may ask you to play for me.  Please understand that I am not assessing your performance abilities. Still, I am trying to determine how you play so I can better customize your instrument to your specific playing style.  This is a crucial step in setups.
  4.  We'll discuss the repair plan, any needed parts, and the expected turnaround time, as this can vary depending on the work required and the number of others already in the queue ahead of you.
  5. Regardless of my work, once I start, I will send you pictures of what I am doing.  This accomplishes two things: a) there's no question of whether or not I've started on your instrument, and b) you'll understand the amount of effort and work I put into addressing your specific issue(s).
  6. If, in the course of addressing an issue, I come across something else needing attention, I will contact you and let you know about it, and if there are any additional costs, I will also advise you.  I will only proceed with additional repairs after you've approved them.
  7. Once your instrument is completed, I will send you the final completion pictures and an itemized invoice, and we'll schedule a time for you to pick up your instrument.
  8. When you pick up your instrument, I will ask you to play it to confirm your satisfaction with my work.  Only then will payment be due.

If you become a repeat customer, then this interaction will shorten because I'll learn your preferences and add your setup specs to my internal database.

I do not charge expedited fees because I don't believe them to be fair.  It's like skipping in line and charging a fee for that privilege.  I'm confident you'll be more than satisfied with my normal turnaround time.
